Carl Hopkins revisits Easington to open business centre

Carl returned to Easington this week to open a business hub located in what used to be the local working men’s club. Carl spent 10 days in the former mining town as part of Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire programme. He was given £63 a week to live off when he appeared on the programme in 2008. After his ten day visit he gave £42,000 to various community groups and people he felt were deserving causes.

The Easington Colliery Brass Band made famous by Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire’ is releasing a CD in honour of the man who helped change their fortunes. Brighouse based marketing millionaire Carl Hopkins spent 10 days in the former mining town of Easington in County Durham, last year and donated £10,000 to the band which was facing a bleak future after losing its main sponsor.
