The Pitch, in association with Yell, is a small business competition that gives entrepreneurs the chance to pitch their business to high-profile business experts, for the chance to win a prize package worth £50,000.

Carl Hopkins revisits Easington to open business centre

Carl returned to Easington this week to open a business hub located in what used to be the local working men’s club. Carl spent 10 days in the former mining town as part of Channel 4′s The Secret Millionaire programme. He was given £63 a week to live off when he appeared on the programme in 2008. After his ten day visit he gave £42,000 to various community groups and people he felt were deserving causes.

The Easington Colliery Brass Band made famous by Channel 4’s The Secret Millionaire’ is releasing a CD in honour of the man who helped change their fortunes. Brighouse based marketing millionaire Carl Hopkins spent 10 days in the former mining town of Easington in County Durham, last year and donated £10,000 to the band which was facing a bleak future after losing its main sponsor.

Channel 4 Secret Millionaire, Carl Hopkins, will be returning to the North East this Friday (7th August) to revisit one of the projects he helped on the show. Carl will be paying a visit to the SPYRAL (Sandhills Project for Youth Recreation and Leisure) Project in Murton along with a group of 12 volunteers from Northumbria Water to lend a hand on the project’s allotments and garden site.
